Chattakan Vongsiri (Kabet) was born in 1989 and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Painting,
Sculpture and Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University in 2013.
His works often draw upon personal memories, love, loss, and family bonds,
interpreted through a sensitive and profound creative process.
They express emotional vulnerability and the subtle complexities of humanity amid a constantly changing society.
These personal narratives not only reveal his identity but also create a space
for viewers to connect with shared feelings and experiences, using symbols from nature,
forms, and everyday objects.
Chattakan’s journey in glass art began in 2016 under the support of BGC Glass Studio,
the first glass art studio in Thailand, founded by BG Container Glass Public Company Limited.
He is one of the pioneering artists in the country who chose “glass”
as his primary medium with determination and sincerity, driven by a vision to advance Thai glass art
and gain international recognition. Throughout his career,
he has participated in numerous international art activities,
including workshops at Niijima Glass Art Center in Japan with Nick Mount,
a prominent glass artist from Australia, and received a scholarship
from The 32nd Niijima International Glass Art Festival to join a workshop
with Martin Janecky at Pilchuck Glass School in the United States.
Additionally, he has had the opportunity to work closely with world-renowned
glass artists such as Dante Marioni and William Gudenrath as a teaching assistant
before bringing back the valuable knowledge and experience to nurture and develop
the glass art community in Thailand, empowering it to grow vibrantly and sustainably.
Currently, Chattakan serves as the Head of the Glass Artists Team and Studio Manager
at BGC Glass Studio. He is responsible for planning and managing art projects,
developing the team’s potential, and continuously creating his own works,
with a steadfast commitment to elevating Thai glass art to gain wider recognition both domestically
and internationally.
